Brief report and pictures from the 2006 AGM
Bob Berry explained that, after nine years as Chairman, he was standing down at this Meeting, believing that a person with fresh enthusiasm and ideas was required.
Peter Skinner was happy to report a reasonably healthy bank balance which was £362 up on that at the end of the previous financial year.
The highlight of the proceedings was the President's presentation to Bob Berry of a hard-bound book (inscribed in recognition of his service) containing newspaper extracts of international cricket matches stretching back to the early 1900s. He also received a cheque subscribed to by Members. Bob then handed a badge of office to the newly-elected Chairman, Bob Adams. This was a plaque on which a cricket ball and a miniature set of stumps had been mounted. The ball was the very one that Vivien Richards had hit for 5 sixes in 1 over during a SCC Benefit Match against the Club in 1977.
All but one of the Team Captains were re-elected and Peter Snell agreed to take on the 2nd XI captaincy.
